Active Together Celebrate World Menopause Day

World Menopause Day is held every year on the 18th October. The day was designated by the International Menopause Society (IMS) to raise awareness of the menopause and to support options to improve health and well-being for women in mid-life and beyond.

Here at Active Together we value the importance of being physically active at all times to support with our health and well-being. We recognise the positive impact staying active can have whilst going through the menopause and therefore is the reason we support local women through our Positive Pause Events. This helps to influence individuals holistic well-being at an important time.

This year we have delivered over 10 different Positive Pause Events through funding from Sport England. These events are delivered by Clare Shepherd who runs the workshops looking at the health & nutrition elements to having a positive menopause. We also attach information on physical activity and at the face to face events we have delivered some dance and yoga workouts!

When asked "What has been your favourite part of the session?" Some of the participants answered with:

"How knowledgeable Clare was about the subject - every question was answered with a great explanation and she catered wonderfully for all of the different cultures in the room."

"Just becoming more aware that there are positive things that you can do to manage any symptoms that come up in the future."

"Getting out and being with women in a similar situation. The exercise session was fun too"

We have a virtual Positive Pause Event coming up next month! Wednesday 16th November 7-9pm online for FREE. Click here to sign up!

Moving Medicine have recently produced a patient information leaflet giving some great advice and guidance on being active whilst having symptoms, click here to visit their page. See leaflet attached to this news article.
